BYD officially launched its new electric hatchback model, the Seal 06 GT, at the Chengdu Motor Show, highlighting faster charging speeds and outstanding performance. As a leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles, BYD introduced the key technologies of this model at the press conference, with an expected starting price in the Chinese market lower than anticipated.
The Seal 06 GT is equipped with the company’s latest e-Platform 3.0 Evo, which, thanks to its 800-volt architecture, significantly enhances motor and charging speeds. The vehicle uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade batteries, ensuring high efficiency and safety.
On its Weibo page, BYD shared a post about these technologies, mentioning in the translated version: “The e-Platform 3.0 Evo has created over 13 globally pioneering core technologies, providing users with a high-value new energy travel experience.”
This platform is also being applied for the first time in the upcoming electric SUV, the Sealion 7, and a recent video demonstrated that the model can charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes. Further charging to 100% takes an additional 18 minutes, keeping the overall charging time under 45 minutes.
In terms of performance, the entry-level rear-wheel drive version of the Seal 06 GT is equipped with two rear motors, with power outputs of 160 kW and 165 kW, respectively. The dual-motor version offers a total power output of 310 kW, consisting of a 200 kW rear motor and a 110 kW front motor.
